One-on-One Tutoring
We believe that all children are capable of learning. Everyone learns and progresses in his or her own unique way. Remediation takes time and is not homework help. It is an explicit and systematic process of teaching to close gaps in learning and strengthen skills.
Research shows that Multisensory Structured Language Instruction (Orton-Gillingham) is one of the most effective ways to improve reading and spelling, and that starting as early as possible is critical.
We recommend a minimum of two 50-55 minute sessions a week to receive the most benefit from the individualized, multisensory instruction. Sessions can be conducted in the quiet classroom at our learning center or online via zoom if safety or travel restrictions are a concern.
How to Get Started:
1. Schedule your free consultation
Set up a time to talk about your child’s learning needs with Nicole Zauke, owner of First Coast Learning Specialists.
2. The Learning Plan
We will conduct an evaluation, including a student background survey and assessments to determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth. Together we will create a learning plan that meets your child’s needs.
3. Tutoring Sessions Begin
A recurring time slot will be reserved just for your child. Your child will begin to see increased confidence and less frustration

Assessment & Evaluation:
We will conduct assessments before we begin working together so we can determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth. This will allow us to tailor a program that meets your child’s needs and plan appropriate intervention.
Although we cannot provide official diagnosis, we can provide screening assessments and direct you to receive more help if we cannot be of service. The evaluation process involves a student background survey, one to two testing sessions, and a parent meeting to discuss the results. You will leave the meeting with a copy of the report and test results. The report can be used to drive intervention instruction, be shared with the student’s school, or provide information if full cognitive testing is pursued.
** These assessments do NOT provide a diagnosis and do not replace the need for testing from a psychologist to determine if a learning disability is present. **
